Not “Qualified.” Still Doing It.
Read time: 2.5 minutes
The other night, I was at dinner.
Great food. Great company. No electricity...
(but that's a story for another day)
The real moment worth sharing?
When someone across the table asked more about my profession.
So I told them.
About coaching. About what it’s been like building something from the ground up. About the clients I work with.
The breakthroughs I get to witness.
The inner transformations I get to help bring forth into the world.
She was leaning in. Curious. Open.
And then she said something I hear way too often:
“I’ve always thought about coaching too… but I don’t have a certificate.”
And before I could even respond, the spiral began:
“I’ve been on retreats. I meditate every single day.”
“I’m just such a fan of personal development.”
“I watch many videos & read all the books."
“But I guess I’m not qualified…”
Here’s what I told her:
“Neither was I.”
When I started, I didn’t have a coaching certification.
And actually, I still don’t.
And yet…
I’ve got a thriving practice.
Clients who trust me to challenge them—not coddle them.
Who lean on me to speak the truth when everyone else stays polite.
60% of my clients? Met in real life. Through energy. Presence. One conversation at a time.
Not through funnels. Not through marketing hacks. Not because I ticked some box or flashed some title.
But because I showed up in the moment and made them feel seen. Spoke the truth. Gave them what they didn’t even know they needed.
One of them told me recently:
“No one’s ever spoken to me like this before.”
Another said:
“Out of all the languages you could have spoken… you chose to speak the Truth.”
And that’s what this work is about.
It’s not about degrees. It’s not about boxes checked. It’s not about playing it safe.
It’s about showing up.
Being the mirror. Being the challenger. Being the one who helps someone else access their next level.
And listen—am I against training? Not at all.
This year, I decided it was finally time to join a formal coaching school.
And I’m beyond grateful for it.
I’ve already gotten access to webinars, tools, resources—and it's one of those things that I can already tell has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
But you know what?
I didn’t wait for a certificate to get started.
Because the real scam?
Is believing you need permission.
That you need someone to give you a gold star before you move.
Before you serve. Before you begin.
You don’t.
What you do need—is the willingness to go first.
To stop saying “I wish” and start saying “I choose.”
Because who you are being—right now—is what shapes what you’ll do next.
So if you’re waiting for some title, some magic moment, some official approval to give you the green light…
Let this be it.
You’re ready now. Not perfect. Not “certified.” But ready.
And readiness? It's a decision.
The same way I decided this year was my time. To go deeper. To get better. To invest in the next version of myself.
But it started long before that.
It started with a simple belief:
You don’t need to wait to begin.”
So go. Start. Serve. Not someday. Not later.
Now.
You got this.
With Love,
Julian
PS. The next time you catch yourself saying, “But I’m not ready…” Ask yourself this instead: “Who would I be if I believed I already was?” That’s the real shift. That’s how you keep movin’.
